Morocco Arrests Ghanaian National Wanted by United States Under INTERPOL Red Notice

June 12, 2026

A Ghanaian national wanted by the United States has been arrested in Morocco following a Red Notice alert triggered during border controls.

The suspect was apprehended at Mohammed V International Airport in Casablanca on 12 June 2026 after routine checks against INTERPOL databases confirmed an active Red Notice issued at the request of US judicial authorities.

He is wanted in connection with alleged fraud and money laundering offences, including participation in a transnational scheme believed to involve romance fraud targeting victims across multiple jurisdictions. Authorities suspect that proceeds of crime, amounting to significant sums, were laundered through complex international financial transactions designed to conceal their origin.

The individual has been placed in custody pending extradition proceedings to the United States.
