INTERPOL Red Notice Fugitive Arrested in Türkiye

June 21, 2026

A 29-year-old Afghan national, Nazar Mohammad Nazari, who was the subject of an INTERPOL Red Notice, was arrested in the western Turkish province of Kütahya following a routine police stop on 21 June 2026.

The arrest took place during patrol checks conducted by motorcycle police units in the Paşam Sultan neighbourhood, where officers stopped an individual for inspection and determined that the identity document presented was fraudulent.

Subsequent fingerprint and database checks confirmed the individual’s identity as Nazari, who had been internationally wanted via an INTERPOL Red Notice since 23 November 2023.

Authorities further established that Nazari was subject to a final custodial sentence of 12 years and 6 months’ imprisonment, imposed by the Konya Heavy Penal Court for drug trafficking offences, in addition to a judicial fine.

Further investigation identified a criminal record including three counts of escape from custody and two counts of drug trafficking.

Following his arrest, Nazari was transferred to the Anti-Narcotics Branch Directorate for further legal processing. Authorities indicated that investigations remain ongoing.
