Brick Court and Peters & Peters Seminar: Fraud, Corruption and Sanctions in International Commercial Arbitration – 11 July 2019

Jointly presented by Brick Court Chambers and Peters & Peters, this seminar will focus on the difficult issues which arise when serious allegations of fraud and corruption are made in the context of international commercial arbitrations, as well as the relevance of sanctions to arbitration practitioners.

Presided over by Sir Christopher Clarke, former Lord Justice of Appeal and now a commercial arbitrator, the evening will comprise two panel discussions:

Panel one

Neil Calver QC and Simon Salzedo QC of Brick Court Chambers and Keith Oliver of Peters & Peters will discuss the involvement of the English courts in the arbitral process, including obtaining interim injunctions, enforcement and challenges to awards involving allegations of fraud.

Panel two

Michael O’Kane and Peter Fitzgerald of Peters & Peters and Maya Lester QC of Brick Court Chambers will discuss issues of criminal law, EU law and due process in the context of arbitration, and the impact of financial sanctions on arbitration.
