Key Facts:

A multi-agency operation, co-ordinated in the UK by the NCA, involved teams visiting hundreds of business and residential premises to conduct safeguarding checks and raise awareness about modern slavery.

Authorities were also stationed at Stansted Airport so they could monitor flights from high-risk countries.

This week-long law enforcement activity identified 35 potential victims, and resulted in arrests for offences including sexual exploitation, and human trafficking. Moreover, 20 new police investigations are said to have been launched due to the intelligence collected from the operation.

This operation is part of a Europe-wide effort to disrupt criminal networks and gather intelligence concerning modern slavery and human trafficking.
