Nick Vamos speaks on private prosecutions

Nick Vamos, Partner and Head of Business Crime, recently spoke at a joint seminar hosted by the Private Prosecutors’ Association and 2 Hare Court examining the role of the courts and the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) in superintending private prosecutions.

Speaking alongside HHJ Baumgartner, Resident Judge at Southwark Crown Court, Nick shared insights into the CPS’s role in overseeing private prosecutions, drawing on his experience as former Head of Special Crime at the CPS as well as his current practice advising on complex business crime matters.

The discussion explored the respective roles of the courts and the CPS in safeguarding the integrity of private prosecutions, as well as the practical and legal considerations that arise in this evolving area of criminal law.

The seminar brought together practitioners with an interest in private prosecutions to discuss recent developments and the wider framework governing the prosecution of criminal offences by private parties.
