Dunn family appoints P&P’s Nick Vamos to support the prosecution of Anne Sacoolas #justice4harry
The Dunn family have today announced the appointment of our partner Nick Vamos and former Head of Extradition at the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) to their legal team as part of their search for #Justice4Harry following their son Harry’s tragic passing in a road accident.
Nick Vamos’ appointment comes as the Dunn family intensifies efforts to ensure that Anne Sacoolas, who was driving the car in the 2019 crash near RAF Croughton that resulted in their teenage son’s death faces justice in the UK.
With the question of Sacoolas’ diplomatic status at the time of the crash to be considered by the Court of Appeal, Nick will now work alongside Harry’s parents, Charlotte Charles and Tim Dunn, and their existing legal team on a pro-bono basis in a bid to ensure Sacoolas stands trial in a British court.
A partner at specialist business crime law firm Peters & Peters, Nick has an extensive track record in dealing with complex, high profile and often highly-sensitive extradition cases. Formerly one of the CPS’s most senior lawyers – holding the position of Head of Extradition and Head of Special Crime amonghttps://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1S4VRiE5bwIwmX3ON-QS84g62DW5XqCRwSM8pxKSiR10/edit#gid=1216577228st many other prestigious roles – Nick brings a wealth of in-depth knowledge and specialist expertise, and will be working closely with law firm Allen & Overy who are also advising Harry’s parents’ including handling the judicial review appeal.
Nick Vamos said: “I feel truly honoured to have the opportunity to help bring the family one step closer to justice. Their tireless pursuit for justice in the face of so many legal and political barriers while dealing with devastating personal loss is hugely admirable. Alongside the team at Allen & Overy, I hope to play my part in helping the family obtain some much-needed solace after such a traumatic ordeal.”
Commenting on the appointment Radd Seiger, adviser and spokesperson for Harry’s family said: “Nick’s appointment, coming shortly after the appointment of Allen & Overy last month, is a major step forward for Harry’s parents as they continue to seek a resolution to the nightmare they are going through. With Nick’s background and highly strategic approach to problem solving, Harry’s parents have now assembled a team of the finest heavyweight lawyers imaginable to guide them through the terrible predicament they find themselves in following Harry’s passing 16 months ago. Nick has an unrivalled reputation in this area of law and we are all pleased that he has been able to take the case on.”
Nick will be liaising with the CPS, UK officials and Sacoolas’ US lawyers to ensure that all legal options are pursued to see Sacoolas prosecuted in the UK, as part of a wider strategy to secure proper judicial scrutiny of the events surrounding Harry’s tragic death.
