Tiffany Buckley


Tiffany is an Associate in the Business Crime Department.

Tiffany qualified as a Barrister and Solicitor of New Zealand in 2022, specialising in criminal defence. She started her career as a Junior Barrister for a leading King’s Counsel, where she gained experience working in and preparing cases for all courts of New Zealand including some of the most serious and high-profile cases. Tiffany is an experienced advocate with a broad criminal practice including homicide, sexual offending, drug offending, bribery, fraud and money laundering.  

 

Prior to joining Peters and Peters, Tiffany worked as a Disputes Associate in an International Law Firm.

 

Since joining the firm, Tiffany has focussed on corporate criminal liability in complex investigations and prosecutions, including cross-border criminal investigations.

 

Tiffany graduated from Victoria University of Wellington with a conjoint degree in Law (First Class Honours) and Arts (Criminology and Political Science).

 

Tiffany has contributed to the Victoria University of Wellington Legal Research Paper and Lexis Nexis UK.

Case examples

Acting for a manufacturer in relation to a large police investigation involving a major disaster and widespread loss of life.

Advised a high-profile large organisation which ran a compensation scheme as a result of highly damaging media coverage.

Acted for a senior District Health Board member in a Serious Fraud Office prosecution who was charged with corruption and bribery in relation to medical equipment and software.  

Acted for a defendant who was charged as a party to murder when he was 17 years old. He was acquitted of murder and convicted and discharged on a charge of Injuring with Intent to Injure.

Acted for a New Zealand media personality who faced charges of Participation in an Organised Criminal Group and Money Laundering. Successful on appeal at getting their sentence of imprisonment reduced to home detention.
