Martha Baselga Duran
Martha is a dual-qualified Spanish lawyer and English solicitor with significant experience advising on complex cross-border investigations, business crime matters and extradition.
Drawing on her international background and multi-jurisdictional practice, Martha advises corporates, senior executives and high-net-worth individuals on regulatory and enforcement investigations concerning complex fraud, bribery, corruption and money laundering.
She has previously represented clients before the Serious Fraud Office (SFO), Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC), the National Crime Agency (NCA) and assisted in the representation of clients before the US Department of Justice (DOJ) and the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
Martha’s practice includes representing individuals facing extradition proceedings and dealing with mutual legal assistance requests. Her ability to navigate matters spanning multiple legal systems enables her to coordinate cross-border strategies, evidence-gathering exercises and local counsel effectively.
Martha regularly conducts internal investigations and advises multinational organisations on managing legal and regulatory risk across jurisdictions.
Martha is particularly well placed to advise Spanish and Latin American clients as she has a deep understanding of the differences between civil and common law systems, and the additional challenges clients face when scrutiny comes from a foreign jurisdiction.
Before joining Peters & Peters, Martha was a member of the White-Collar Defense, Investigations & Compliance practice at a leading US law firm.
