Mariya Uzunova


Associate

Mariya joined Peters & Peters in September 2021 as an Associate in the Commercial Litigation, Civil Fraud and Asset Tracing department of Peters & Peters. She has acted on behalf of individuals and corporate clients, including insolvency practitioners, in complex and high value commercial litigation.

Mariya has experience with High Court and County Court litigation. She has advised and represented clients at all stages of the litigation process, including in mediation. Prior to joining the firm, Mariya completed her training and worked as a Dispute Resolution Associate at a corporate law firm where she gained experience in corporate, banking, insolvency and restructuring law as well as in dispute resolution.


Mariya studied International Politics at City, University of London and during her studies, she spent time abroad at SciencesPo Paris as part of the Erasmus Programme. Mariya then completed her GDL and LPC at BPP University.

Case examples

Acted on behalf of the main defendant in CIS-related proceedings brought by a major litigation funder, regarding the parties' respective entitlements under an investment agreement, to the proceeds of a $300m judgment obtained by the defendant.


Acted on behalf of the Petitioner in the preparation and issuing of a winding up petition on the just and equitable basis pursuant to section 122(1)(g) of the Insolvency Act 1986 against a company which holds c. £8m of proceeds from an asset sale.
