Neil Swift Comments on Proposed SFO Whistleblower Rewards Scheme

Partner Neil Swift has commented on proposals to introduce financial incentives for whistleblowers, noting that additional reporting could provide the Serious Fraud Office (SFO) with valuable intelligence to help identify and investigate economic crime.

Speaking to Law360, Neil highlighted that the SFO’s expanded powers and recent corporate crime reforms could make such information particularly useful. He also noted that any reward scheme would need to address the challenges that can arise when whistleblowers have themselves been involved in the conduct they are reporting.

The proposals form part of broader efforts to strengthen the UK’s approach to tackling serious economic crime and encouraging the reporting of wrongdoing.
