Peters & Peters opens doors for Springboard Work Experience Week

In July 2025 Peters & Peters hosted its annual Springboard Work Experience Week, a flagship programme designed to provide undergraduates, particularly those from underrepresented backgrounds, with practical insight into life at a law firm.

This immersive, week-long programme welcomed students into the heart of Peters & Peters, offering a dynamic blend of structured learning, skills workshops, and real-world legal exposure. Attendees participated in a range of sessions, including overviews of both legal and business support departments, visits to the Royal Courts of Justice, and interactive workshops on CV writing, commercial awareness, interview skills, and Training Contract preparation.

The experience culminated in mock interviews and a networking event, giving students the opportunity to build lasting professional connections and develop confidence as they prepare for a career in law.

Throughout the week, students were supported by teams across the firm. Legal departments provided valuable supervision and hands-on tasks such as case summary drafting and legal research, while HR led several employability workshops.

This year’s cohort included students from STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) disciplines. Their participation highlights the firm’s recognition of the unique value that technical and analytical skills can bring to legal practice, and the importance of helping these students explore non-traditional pathways into law.

Participants described the experience as both eye-opening and transformative. One student reflected: “I have definitely appreciated the understanding you have had of my STEM background and the effort of placing me with the right people. I have come out of this experience with a better understanding of the legal industry and with so many new connections… I have learned so much about the firm and myself.”

Another commented on the real-world exposure the scheme provided: “My work experience was more than I expected. I got to visit courts and visually see the work solicitors put in for a court hearing.”

Many also praised the balance of the programme. “The scheme was very comprehensive and I had a great time. The balance between classroom sessions, the opportunity to work on real cases, and speak to different people in the firm was perfect. The firm was very supportive, and it is clear that my supervisors and HR really cared about my development,” one student shared.

Another participant added: “It exceeded my expectations. I really enjoyed the work that was set for me. It involved a lot of research, but it was completely different to what I am used to at university.”

Through our work with upReach, Peters & Peters hopes to continue to invest in the next generation of legal talent and ensure that career opportunities are accessible to students from all walks of life.
