My journey: from Paralegal to Associate

I joined Peters & Peters as a paralegal, then was offered a two-year training contract. I was delighted to be kept on afterwards, qualifying into the firm’s Fraud & Commercial Disputes department in 2021. Almost straight away I got involved in a massive trial for claims in deceit, which lasted more than three weeks.

The time has flown by and the sheer calibre and variety of the work is the main reason. It is all I could hope for – large-scale, million-pound plus disputes with enough complexity to ensure I’m always learning. There is also often a political or international edge that keeps it exciting. I have been able to travel to countries such as Egypt and Dubai to assist clients there. There is trial experience and frequent urgent injunctions to keep you on your toes. The feeling when we win is amazing.

Client contact here comes earlier and is deeper than in many other firms. You learn to be confident, so clients in crisis can rely on you and are put at ease.

The other great thing about Peters & Peters is the people. We are like-minded, but very different. The firm is a real mix, with people from across the world but everyone is always welcoming, level-headed, bright and friendly. It makes a real difference and means you enjoy what you do all the more.
