Multi-jurisdictional litigation

Widespread ownership of overseas property and assets, international joint ventures and the growth of the Internet inevitably requires a multi-jurisdictional approach to major litigation.

Our lawyers are used to working in international case teams directed at the most effective utilisation of litigation resources. We are able to mobilise case teams at short notice and to react immediately to disputes or crisis management situations as they occur.

Our work extends well beyond the EU and USA. Recent cases include litigation in South America, Grand Cayman, the Caribbean, other tax havens and Hong Kong.

We are constantly involved in difficult and complex litigation with competing jurisdictional claims. The disputes are not limited to contractual issues. They include breach of trust or fiduciary duty claims or proceedings commenced in a number of different countries to recover the proceeds of fraud.

Claims may be common law or conversely civil law based. Competing jurisdictions often adopt entirely different approaches in private international law issues. These are problems which today's global market exacerbates. We have extensive experience in successfully managing cross border and multi-national proceedings.
