Peters & Peters act for a very senior UK businessman, who faced an extradition request from the United States in respect of historic charges relating to the distribution of substantial quantities of cocaine. He had pleaded guilty in the US to these charges in 1997 and was sentenced, in his absence, to a 24 year jail term. We assisted in obtaining evidence and making submissions to the US prosecutors and the judge and were successful in having the client re-sentenced by the US authorities to a 7 year custodial term and organising a prisoner transfer arrangement back to the UK.
