The Marine Hose Cartel

Peters & Peters is advising two senior company executives arrested in Houston for their involvement in a cartel to fix the global price of marine hose and rig the bids for particular contracts around the world.  These investigations are being conducted by the US Department of Justice, the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) and the European Commission.

A unique plea agreement was negotiated with the US Department of Justice which allowed the clients to enter their guilty pleas in the US and to return to the UK to plead guilty and serve their custodial sentence in the UK.

This deal attracted considerable media attention and is likely to set a precedent for dealing with many cross jurisdictional international criminal cases.  This case is also likely to result in the first UK cartel convictions under the Enterprise Act.
