British Airways Worldwide Cargo Fuel Surcharge Cartel

In 2006 British Airways World Cargo and other airlines were subject to highly publicised raids around the world by various competition authorities.

It was alleged that there was a global conspiracy amongst the airlines to fix the price of the fuel surcharge.  In August 2007 BA was fined $100 million in the US after pleading guilty to involvement in a cartel to fix the price of fuel surcharge on cargo shipments.

Peters & Peters acted for the BA manager who has most contact with a competitor in relation to fuel surcharges. Following detailed negotiations with authorities in the US, Canada and Australia we secured immunity from criminal prosecution for the client in all jurisdictions.
