For many years we have been retained by the Australian financial regulator, the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (“ASIC”), in relation to requests for Mutual Legal Assistance in connection with criminal enquiries being conducted in Australia. During the course of these requests we have represented ASIC both in the evidence gathering proceedings in the City of Westminster Magistrates’ Court and as an interested party in Judicial Review proceedings brought against decisions of the Secretary of State and the Court both by the targets of the investigation and their former lawyer.
